Note on repentance and grace
Sin is like cancer, it eats you from the inside out. Its effects outlast the action. It even starts to eat at you prematurely, before it has even grown, before you have even sinned you are already contemplating to disobey the Holy God. You have already oriented your heart against the prompting of the Holy Spirit to flee from sin and thus before the specific sinful action you are already knee-deep in rebellion. Our hearts are predisposed to sin, and only with the grace and saving work of Christ and the guiding and protective work of the Holy Spirit can we live in any sort of Godly victory.
With this said, repentance should be the lifestyle of any and every Spirit-filled Christian. Repenting of sin starts at salvation and ends when we meet Christ. Anything else, would be calling God a liar and blind to the Grace that so holds us together. Our heart should be by default repentant. But even more specifically, we should explicitly realize those specific acts of disobedience, addictions, unbelief, and turn away from them and the death they bring about and repent, eying on the power of he Holy Spirit and the grace and patience of God to bring us out.
So confess your sin to God and to people you hurt and are accountable to. There is freedom in that. God already knows your sin. He knew it before you did. Neither let pride nor fear keep you from confession.
In conclusion, repent, then live repentant and aware that you need Grace every minute of everyday. You need as much as grace as when you first believed. As much grace as on your "worst" spiritual day.
