The sixth stanza of Psalm 119 (Vav)
Psalm 119 documents the journey of discovering a passion and desire for God through His word. We can't do this at all without God's help in understand the Bible, His great Word, and beginning to understand all of His great ways.
As we seek God, He gives us the great gift of knowledge. He helps us to understand the Bible and theology. However, while we're growing in knowledge we can't just regard this journey, or even this knowledge, as mere "concepts."
We aren't reading about or seeking an idea - we're seeking a REAL God who REALLY loves us.
God doesn't want us to theorize about Him all day, instead He wants us to talk to Him like our best friend.
We SHOULD continue to pursue knowledge of God and His Word, (v48) but as we do we should keep that knowledge in a "reality check," we love that knowledge because it is from God and about God, we use it to learn more about our best friend.
"I delight in Your commands, which I love. I will lift up my hands to Your commands, which I love..." (vv47-48)
Even more then we receive KNOWLEDGE from God, we receive His love, because, more then anything, He wants RELATIONSHIP with us. This is why He died for our sins.
"Let Your faithful love come to me, Lord..." (v41)
Additionally, in that love we receive the awesome grace of salvation - the opportunity to live in relationship with God forever!!
We let this love and knowledge play out together in our lives by actually changing the way we live.
"I will always obey Your instruction, forever and ever." (v44)
"I will speak of Your decrees before kings and will not be ashamed." (v46)
Our LIVES, lived in relationship with God, and love of God, is the greatest, and most important act of worship we are called to.
"I will lift up my hands to Your commands, which I love, and will meditate on Your statutes." (v48)
