Jesus sends us into headwinds
Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, while he dispersed the crowds. And after he sent the crowds away, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone. Meanwhile the boat, already far from land, was taking a beating from the waves because the wind was against it. (Matthew 14:22-24 NET)
Sometimes Jesus sends us into headwinds, as in this story. Why does He do that? It's to show us that in Him, we are overcomers! It may take us quite a while to truly understand this (and Jesus is always close by anyway), which is why He will keep sending us into these trials until we get the fact that we have the authority of heaven behind us as sons of the Most High King! We don't need to be afraid, and if we truly believe we can also walk on water without sinking!
