The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather from his kingdom everything that causes sin as well as all lawbreakers. (Matthew 13:41 NET)
Did Jesus say all law breakers? But we are not under law I hear you say. Correct, but Jesus has given us grace and faith and His blood, and the word of our testimony to overcome all these things. The call is for holiness, and Jesus is coming back for a spotless bride.
I once heard a John Bevere teaching where he said that the "standard" is actually higher in the latter times, because Jesus has now given us everything to be transformed into His image (my paraphrase). And we see this here in this verse, where He says that when He returns, His bride will be so spotless that everyone who breaks His laws will be thrown into the fire.
Should we panic and become all legalistic in response to this? No, but we should always have a healthy fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of all wisdom. (Prov 9:10).
Let us all believe that Father will restore us to the image of His Son and yield to the work of Holy Spirit in us. And let us not settle for and excuse those occasional sins we secretly like.
