the unmaking of a hero
"The Unmaking of a Hero"
*Sin will take you further than where you want to go and keep you longer than what you want to stay.
*Samson was strong-fought a lion with his hands defeated 1000 philistines--when u looked at him he probably looked below average because his muscles were not the source of his strength. The secret of his strength was his covenant with God.
*Samson is a typical Christian--blessed with a Supernatural birth, a special call to royal priesthood, to reveal His glory, the Holy Spirit dwells within and works through.
*Samson is not remembered for his accomplishments but for his wasted potential.
*Don't live beneath your potential. Don't settle for less than God's plan.
*He became a laughingstock--may our lives not become reasons for Satan to laugh but reasons for him to cry!!!
*Samson was a He man with a She weakness/problem
*Everyone has one of three weaknesses: 1 Lust of the eyes 2 lust of the flesh 3 pride of life
*If Satan can't stop u from going to Heaven He will do all he can to make you ineffective in God's will on earth
*Samson had lust of the flesh--he defeated 1000 philistines because he hated them but he was defeated by Delilah because he loved her. He was defeated by the weakness he loved too much to let God give him victory over it. There's nothing God can do when you refuse to use God's power to conquer your weakness.
*judges 14:1-2 he did not choose a godly woman to be with
*when a spiritual person allows fleshly appetite to drive a decision rather than your spiritual desire you are moving in the wrong direction...You're going downward where you don't want to go.
*you have an upward call but moving the opposite direction you open the door to bad things and good things in ur life will start to die--don't let that be your portion!
*He kept fallin to he same problems because he ne'er let God properly deal with it. Why did he choose ungodly women? Because he didn't want to live a godly life and he went to people who would allow him to live like he wanted. You can tell lot about a person by the friends s/he has
*god spared Samson's life in chapter 16 but god spared him. Too often because God spares our lives in bad situations n we think the situation was not a big deal cuz nothing bad happened. This is a false conclusion.
*Judges 16:4-21 (Delilah means weak or weakness) *Satan has agents set to weaken you enough to get you to lose your potential. Samson fell in love with a weakness an agent of Satan. He opened his heart to her and she used the trust against him.
*Samson was saying to his parents "I know how far to go. I know what I am doing." he lost his ability to see spiritual matters because he started to backslide.
*don't start to backslide-you don't know how far it will take you and it will take you somewhere unexpected.
*if you move from A to b n stay at b until you're comfortable enough there it becomes easy to move to c,d,e,....and all the way to z. But you shouldn't even take the first step! N if u realize u have moved away REPENT and go back to A your first love.
*Backsliding causes you to lose your spiritual sensitivity.
*Samson's problem was where he had his head--where is your head?
*set your mind on things from above because earthly things should be dead to you.
*The answer to any sexual temptation is to flee far from it
*Samson paid a price for his promiscuity. He didn't let God conquer his 1 of 3 weaknesses (lust of the flesh) n he becomes like a regular man. He lost his testimony n his usefulness.
*this is not God's plan for you. This should not be your ending by the Spirit of God. God will give you grace to conquer lust of the eyes lust of the flesh and/or pride of life.
*Why do believers sacrifice their callings to satisfy earthly desires? Do you want to be Samson or do you want to be Daniel Moses Joseph who retained their usefulness for God.
"child of God, you can refuse to be called a son of Pharaoh's daughter. You can choose to suffer the afflictions of God's people. You can choose to be like Jesus.
*the Samsons of this world want what they see; the Moseses see first He who is invisible and want that. too many people don't weigh what the world offers and what God offers enough to choose God. God doesnt offer worldly things; his rewards lie in Heaven and not on Earth.
*It is better to serve God and suffer than deny God for delight.
*resist the lust of the eyes flesh pride of life that Satan will offer you in an attempt to take away your use n testimony--do not live for what this world could give you but live for what God will give you.
•With the world today and tomorrow and not guaranteed; With God your tomorrows never end.
