5 Minute Sermon:
Heavenly Father! Help me to remember that what You have given, You will require; and enable me so to live that I may multiply the talents with which You have entrusted me, by using them for Your glory and for the comfort and help of others. Amen.
How can one be radical for Christ when one wants to fit in to the ways of the world?
We cannot have both. Choose wisely.
Five minute Sermon:
26 Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing there. He said to his mother, "Look, here's your son!" 27 Then he said to the disciple, "Look, here's your mother!" From that time on she lived with that disciple in his home.
Even while suffering in agony, Jesus demonstrated care(love) for His mother!
The sadness of a mother to watch her Son suffer at the cruelty of the cross. The love of a Son to call for His mother's care even while He suffers greatly. Jesus love was selfless even as He was dying to the world. No greater pain did Mary feel than to watch her Son suffer. No greater concern did the Son show than to have in His disciple, John care for His mother. This is true love. Love that gives comfort and is strengthened even while suffering. Love that places responsibility into willing hands. This true love shines even when death feels it has won. Truly this love shows a bond that even death cannot break.
Father who comforts even in times of suffering. Who recognizes the need of others even in trying times, Help me to offer comfort even in my hardship, just as Jesus gave Mary comfort at the Cross. Let me hear and give words that lead to a purpose being revealed and a loving obligation being fulfilled. Amen.
