Are you willing to give God back what He gave you?
Abraham understood that whatever God gives us, it still ultimately belongs to God. In Genesis 21 Abraham had to send his son, Ishmael and his servant Hagar (Ishmael's mother) away. This upset Abraham because he loved his son, but God told him to obey his wife's request to send them away. In Genesis 22 Abraham is told to sacrifice Isaac, the son promised in Genesis 18. Just as he was about to kill Isaac, an Angel appeared telling Abraham because of his faith and obedience, God had provided a ram in the bush that could be used for the sacrifice instead of Isaac.
Abrahams solid faith in God helped him obey even when it hurt, and he didn't understand the "why." Can God depend on us to obey Him when He asks for what is most important to us? Will we obey and sacrifice even when it hurts and we don't understand? When God gives you something/someone can you then be trusted to give it/them back should He ask?
I pray this song ministers to you ....
Blessed because I am a blessing.
