Keep His Commands
How quick I am to skip over the words 'Keep my commands' thinking "Yeah, yeah. I do that." But If I take the time to stop & really look at the 10 commandments even for just a moment, I am convicted. I don't have to go far down the list because I can quickly see that I don't even obey the first one.
'You shall have no other gods before me.' How often do I put other people's opinions of me before His? How much time am I spending on Facebook or watching TV each week as opposed to how much time I spend with Him?
I have only to skim through some of the other commandments to reinforce the feeling of conviction. Keep the Sabbath? How often do I even remember that this is a commandment?? I can't remember the last time I rested for an ENTIRE day! And then there's murder. I don't often remember that Jesus said that even if you're angry with someone else, it's the equivalent of murder.
When I pause to remember how holy & sovereign He really is, & how disobedient I am with His 10 simple rules, I am humbled. Lord, thank you for this reminder of your commands. Help me & my Sisters to be intentional about obeying them because you ARE holy & sovereign. Amen!
