God Uses Ordinary People
The reason we have trouble doing the task God gives us is because all of our focus is in us all the time.
God uses ordinary people to do amazing things for Him.
Why is there a geology here? What is it telling us? The writer wants us to know who Moses is and what he did. Everything is going great in Egypt but then a new pharaoh comes to power and enslaves Israel.
What does the text tell us about Moses and Aaron?
1. It tells us they had know fame in their background, no title to be a leader. In fact most of their family didn't even have any honor to speak of.
Amram married his father's sister Jochebed, and she bore him Aaron and Moses; and the length of Amram's life was one hundred and thirty-seven years. (Exodus 6:20 NASB)
The writer wants us to realize that Moses and Aaron were nobodies. They weren't worthy, they were undesirable. They were sinners, they were unimpressive people. They were eighty years old! They didn't burst into pharaoh's room yelling "let my people go!" they would have entered very slowly. They were eighty.
Moses asks in verse 30 how will pharaoh listen to me?! I'm not skilled in speech! He is saying that he isn't anybody of any importance! This is the type of people God uses to do great thing.
• God uses ordinary people to accomplish amazing things!
But Moses said before the LORD, "Behold, I am unskilled in speech; how then will Pharaoh listen to me?" (Exodus 6:30 NASB)
Why does God use these ordinary people to accomplish his will? He could do it by Himself if He wanted to. But God enjoys being able to use man in His plan.
So Moses and Aaron did it; as the LORD commanded them, thus they did. (Exodus 7:6 NASB)
These men got to see God's power be done over and over again! It wasn't them who was doing these amazing things. It was God who did it through them. Why did these things happen to them? It's because they were obedient. They did as the Lord command of them.
Some of us may be undesirable, this doesn't mean that we can't. Do great things! If we are obedient we will see God unfolding his plan, we will see how it works. Nothing is more amazing then this. You don't have to worry about how thing are said when you're sharing the gospel. You could say everything terribly and you wish that you had never tried anything in the first place, but then God flips on that switch in that persons head and you see that person grow in Christ.
For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no man may boast before God. But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that, just as it is written, "LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD." (1 Corinthians 1:26-31 NASB)
What was your prayer life like last year? Did you pray for that unsaved family? Did you pray for your pastor and fellow believers?
When you were at bible study did you just talk about that new car you got? Or the assignments you had do? Or did you talk about the Lord and how wonderful He is. Talk about what you're learning and what God is teaching you.
