God with us
Lately I have been thinking about the sorrow it can be to love others in this life; to have to say goodbye for a short time or for the rest of our life, if someone dies. I think of being with everyone I love all together in heaven and I cry because I want that now. I hate missing people I love. And then I think on this--that Jesus came to be God with us. There's so much there! He chose to become like us... To endure the suffering of separation even though he had no obligation to do so. A separation more deep than we could know, when he bore separation from the father on the cross. He chose to be like us so he could offer us that joining with others that comes with heaven. No more sorrow or tears or missing the ones I love. But then, finally, there is the fact that he came, as God with us, to bring us to himself. I think he must have missed us. God missed us so much, he gave us himself, his life and blood, and in suffering, he conquered that which held us apart from him: sin and death. Oh blessed, precious Jesus! Thank you for loving me!
