same today as it was yesterday
One of the beauties of the Psalms is that it shares in our pain and suffering. These are not simply pious tunes to be sung on churchy occasions. They are gut felt cries of desperation. They are pleas for justice and mercy. They are the accounts of so much suffering endured not by random heathens but by God's chosen ones - his kings and priests. In the midst of their struggles they reached out to God. He did not prevent their suffering but gave them shelter in the midst of it. A warm fire on a battle field. Though war rage all around yet in the midst there can be peace in the Lord. I find myself drawn away during my struggle from the Lord who loves me. Perhaps the Lord sees these imperfections and seeks to root th out so that we may be sanctified.
