After a person receives Jesus Christ as their Savior, they can fall off the path easily by compromising His instructions. Psalm 119: 1-10 gives us a good amount of encouragement to stay on the path with God and to never compromise His Word.
Verse 7 is the center of how we can find REAL joy in life today!
119: 1-2 There is no greater joy than the joy that comes when we make Godly integrity a priority in our lives. Searching for God with all our heartsleads to a joy than no one can adequately describe in words.
119: 3 Those who find true joy in Christ do not compromise with evil. They walk only in His paths.
119: 4 The Lord has given us the task of keeping His commandments.
119: 5 The psalmist wishes that his actions would reflect God's commandments (decrees). This should be the desire of any follower of Christ.
119: 6 When we have a desire like the one the psalmist mentions in verse 5 we will have fewer reasons to be ashamed when we compare our lives to His Word.
119: 7 The greatest thanks we could ever show God for providing a way to Him through Christ, is by accepting His FREE gift of salvation in Jesus Christ and then living as He has instructed us to live.
119: 8 "I will obey your decrees. Please don't give up on me!" This is a good prayer for a Christian to lift up to God on a daily basis as we commit to obey Him.
119: 9-10 How can a young person stay pure? By obeying God's Word. We should try our very best to obey His Word every day.
Make this a sincere prayer to God and He will help us stay strong on this journey: "I have tried hard to find You -- don't let me wander from Your commands."
