John 16:21-22 Comparison of enduring childbirth pain but then forgetting when we experience the joy of a child
-If you're trying to find joy you'll never ind it. It's a byproduct of something else.
Fellowship and joy come together in the scriptures (1 Thess 2:19-20; Phillipians 4:1; Romans 15:32; Philemon 1:7) People usually don't associate joy this way in fellowship, but the Bible does!
Why do people not understand this? Bc we only associate joy with happiness and being excited about something, yet in the Bible it is always mentioned in conjunction with suffering. (The presence of something desirable on Gods presence; 1 Thess 1:6, Acts 13:52; Acts 5:41; James 1:2-4; 1 Peter 4:13) Notice also how closely related the Holy Spirit is to joy as well.
Why are there so many people who are a part of the body of christ but don't experience joy?
-We live in a world that's all about fulfilling and manufacturing worldly desires. It's fine to have things, but not fine to think they will give you joy. Joy is not based on stuff.
How do I get joy?
Scripture is full of instructions
-(Psalm 63:1-7) We're full when we praise God
-(2 Samuel 6:12) God excites, and it sustains us
-Nurture a spirit of contentment (Phillipians 4:1; 1 Timothy 6:6-9) Be satisfied.
