Yes, I think I will talk about the future and what it holds for you and me. That is right, I know exactly what will happen.
So are you ready?
Well here it is; I know that one day Jesus will return."
Wow, am I not good?
Oh, you say I didn't give a date or time? Hmm, that interesting because if any one really has study the bible, the only prediction we can give is that one day Jesus will return. No day or time is given, just that He will return.
You see, one of the things I find fascinating regarding believers and so called theologians is that they think hidden within the scriptures there is a code that the Lord place in bible that signal His return, but just as an ordinary lay person I can assure you that there is no codes.
Jesus, when asked when He would established His kingdom once again by His disciples plainly stated these words:
"And Jesus answered them: Take head that no one deceives you. For the many will come in My name, saying 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many... But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but the Father only....(Matt. 24:4-5 & 36)
You see Jesus Himself doesn't even know the day that His Father will have Him returning, so why try and continue to predict His return? I wish I could answer that question, but I cannot.
What is interesting is what is between the verse I mention above. If we are looking for signs that He will be returning, then Matthew 24 really sums it up as we read the following from Matt 24;
"And you will hear or wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nations will rise against nations and kingdoms against kingdoms. And there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matt. 24: 6-8)
everything Jesus spoke about is happening today. Wars and rumors of wars, nations threatening nations, famines and earthquakes are happening all over this world. All this spells out that we are definitely living in the last days yet as in the days of Noah, those who have read or have some knowledge of what God has said and taught and those who just plainly snub the word of God without looking through the pages continue in their lifestyles not believing or thinking they have time to run to Jesus.
What I like most is that the Lord spells these actions I mention above, that the fear of His returning is no different than in the days Noah lived and the people were told of the pending disaster that was coming. No one knew what rain was and all thought Noah was a certified nut for building a boat in of a desert as we read the following;
"But as in the days of Noah were, so also will be the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah enter the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. (Matt. 24: 37-39)
In other words, Jesus told His disciples that most people will laugh and just keep on going about their business, not thinking once about their salvation.
2 Timothy 3: 1-5
"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanders, without self control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God."
As you see, what was back than, and in the days of Noah is really no different today. So what are we suppose to do? Worry? Of course not, but we are to be alert and continue to do what God has for us to do as the scriptures point out:
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things I have commanded you and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age... (Matt 28: 18-20)
"Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour the Lord is coming...Therefore be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. (Matt. 24:42, 43)
Yep, we are to keep our minds alert and continue to tell others about Jesus and know that our future is with the Lord as He said, "I am with you always, even till the end of the age."
He has a mission for us and we are to continue being ambassadors reaching as many people as we can with God word and His love for all mankind. "For God does not want any of His creation to perish but He wants them all to come to Him"
To conclude, here is another prediction I will make regarding the future;
"Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will morn (those who did not believe), and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory."
And that prediction you can take to heart because as my text says, "No one knows the future, who can tell someone else what is to come?"
It is so true, I cannot tell what will happen in my life now or later or in your life, but this I know for sure as a wise person told me this as I close.
"I will live my life for Christ and do the best I can, because I am flawed person and when i die only to find out there is no God, instead of living and denying His exist, mocking and laughing and rejecting Him then die and find out He is real, because then it will be to late.
I will live my life for Jesus, surrendering all, because this I do know for a fact, if it is in my lifetime or not, Jesus is coming back for us soon.
It is a choice we all have to make. I hope you choose to live for Jesus and follow all He has commanded us to do, because He is truly the the life, the truth and the way and we can only come to His Father through Him.
