See a need? Intercede.
"Fed up, God decided to get rid of them—
and except for Moses, his chosen, he would have.
But Moses stood in the gap and deflected God’s anger,
prevented it from destroying them utterly." MSG
Consider that each day we have multiple opportunities to "stand in the gap" through intercessory prayer. The awareness of this fact, in my mind, makes it a duty.
What do I mean? Well, that we can pray for the people who are affected by the every day occurrences in life. For example: situations you HEAR about on the radio (floods, tornadoes, etc.), things you SEE on the street (people in need, people in fights, lonely people, children who are lacking proper care and instruction, homeless, etc), car accidents you pass on the freeway, ambulances that blare own the street, things you TALK about with family and friends. . . the things that disturb you and the people who challenge your patience . . . you get the idea. Pray right then . . . at the very moment you realize the need. Pray with your children if they are in the car with you, pray with your friends if you are having a conversation. Don't wait. Stand in the Gap. Bless and be blessed.
Oh God give us Your heart for people so we can see their need and intercede!
