the justness of joseph
Joseph was a just man, he loved Mary and resolved to do good to her even though she disappointed him deeply with the news of her child. But being just he did not desire to enforce the penalties of the law or of social disapproval and public shame upon her, he desired to quietly divorce her, breaking off the engagement since he may have assumed that another man was responsible and that she loved another man. it was not until an angel confirmed him that the child was conceived by the Spirit that he willingly took responsibility for botg Mary and the child. He feared the Lord and obeyed and looked to the interests of others instead of his own, offering up his strength for the good of others and out of reverence for his God.
