The Courage of Faith
My brother was speaking to me about this verse and we were astounded at how forward this proverbs writer was. He being a sinful man had the boldness to tell God to give him what he wanted and to not deny him. Wasn't he being a but presumptuous? Doesn't he know that God is in heaven and that he is but on the earth?! God will do as He sees fit!
Isn't that how we would respond to such presumption? And we would be wrong for God is not as we think Him to be. Oh how he longs for us to presume upon His goodness. Remember Jesus who told us that God is a good Father and if even the wicked judge can give justice to an annoying one who begs of him, then how much more will a loving Father give to those who ask.
This is worship that we call on God in our day of trouble. That we truly acknowledge how fully Christ has opened the throne room of God to us. That we adore our Abba Father as the most kind and loving being in the universe. A Father who can't wait to grant us the things we ask.
How would our prayer life change if we spent more time meditating and in faith acknowledging that our wonderful Abba is this amazingly loving? Do you think He is smiling, waiting, anticipating your next time of prayer with Him? Because He is. And there is nothing that can separate you from that for Christ's blood covers fully.
Still not see it? When Jesus was asked how to pray think of the very first words that The Lord of the Universe spoke - Our Father... How amazing is this? Do not gloss over this. Before our sin, our need, the kingdom, or even God's holiness He wanted is to know that He was our Father. He belong to us and we are His children. It is not the servants but the children who have the Father's ear and share in His inheritance.
He is waiting for us to come to Him with this assurance and faith. He reveals Himself and power to the one who holds Him in this regard. He who walks with trust and boldness like a child. As often as you can turn your thoughts this way. Trust Him at his word. And as often as worry an anxiety come turn them over to Him. Bear no burden for yourself in this way. And most of all allow nothing to convince you that your prayer is ever not desired and longed for.
