Deut 17:18 - Re-Write it!
Here we see a command given to future kings that when they come to sit on the throne they must first write for themselves a copy of the law on a scroll so that they will always have the law in their own handwriting. Now imagine this - here we see a king, having secretaries and attendants galore, having to sit at a desk for months on end to re-write his own copy of the first 5 books of the bible! Holy cow! It wasn't enough for him to just read it or have it read to him - he had to pick up his pen and carefully spell out every single letter of every single word. How do you say "Writer's Cramp!!!!?" So when the king read the Law he read it in his own handwriting - it was personal to him, it was his own. God had written it first, but now he had digested it and made it his own. The process looked like this - he saw it with his eyes, he processed it with his mind, he took it to heart, he re-wrote it with his hand. This process took place with every single letter of the Law, and that's the way a king would have to start his kingship! And that's how important it was for him to dwell on God's Law and rule by it!
