Not Heavy #01
the song "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" by The Justice Collective was number 1 in UK at Christmas 2012. The version was a charity record, to raise money for the families of the 96 victims of the Hillsborough Disaster of 1989, who have been campaigning for an inquiry. The song was specially re-recorded by an all-star group of about 30 musicians + production staff who donated their services, so that profits will go to the relevant recipients. Most of the Justice Collective have some connection with Liverpool. The UK government waived collecting VAT tax on all sales of this recording, to maximize income to the recipients due to benefit from the charitable donations.
I have no connection to the Justice Collective, I do not speak for them, nor do i represent any of them, nor any of the charities benefited by their song, I'm just a fan who likes listening to it and singing along. And to add to your enjoyment of this classic song, i have posted a series of Community Notes, in which i have matched Bible passages to extracts from the song lyrics (it is a strictly personal choice of passages, not claimed to represent any other person's/group of persons' views). Each Note in this series has a title beginning "Not Heavy" (followed by a number).
Micah 6:8 NIV
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
