What does Jesus drive me to do?
1-5 Need v rules
What is my focus when I look at people? Do I see their hearts, their need? Or do I measure them by a set of expectations I have constructed?
The Pharisees ignored the suffering of the man and saw a only an opportunity to test Jesus. How hard must their heart have been, how mush must they have despised Jesus to have been so devoid of compassion!
V6 bound together in hatred
Their hatred of Jesus is amplified in their next reaction...they join forces with the herodians. To join forces with a party with whom you would normally be opposed indicates that both were able to overlook their differences because of a common and more pressing passion- in this case their hatred of Jesus.
Seems that how heart towards Jesus will have a huge impact on how we see others. The more we open ourselves to Him, allow Him to transform Us etc the more we will become like Him eg moved by compassion, sensitive to others etc. the more reject Him the harder and insensitive our hearts become. The former become consumed by love and it spills out everywhere- flowing from themselves, the latter are consumed by hatred which draws to themselves, slowly strangling them.
So what does Jesus drive me to do?
