Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. (Revelation 3:20 NIV)
Oh the excuses we have. We got a lot of them don't we ?
God just wants to come in and spend some time with us!
God wants to talk with us, encourage us, direct our lives ...
But we say... Geez..
I have taken off my garment and don’t want to put it on again. I have washed my feet and don’t want to get them dirty again. (Song of Songs 5:3 NCV)
Another time God! Later today perhaps. I'll get to You, I will!
I love you , I really do!
My beloved thrust his hand through the latch-opening; my heart began to pound for him. (Song of Solomon 5:4 NIV)
What an honor to have the God of the universe come to my door! To want to fellowship... to speak to me! What was I thinking? No more excuses! This IS my King!
I opened the door for my lover, but my lover had left and was gone. When he spoke, he took my breath away. I looked for him, but I could not find him; I called for him, but he did not answer. (Song of Songs 5:6 NCV)
God, I'm ready now! No more excuses! Come on in!
God...where are you?
God! I need you!
Has anyone seen my
The watchmen found me as they made their rounds in the city. They beat me, they bruised me; they took away my cloak, those watchmen of the walls! (Song of Solomon 5:7 NIV)
This is what happens when we've neglected God!
Satan moves closer!
We neglect God, we put ourselves in harms way!
Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you— if you find my beloved, what will you tell him? Tell him I am faint with love. (Song of Solomon 5:8 NIV)
Her friends want to know, "If He's so great, why didn't you get up for Him?
What makes your God so great? "
How is your beloved better than others, most beautiful of women? How is your beloved better than others, that you so charge us?
(Song of Solomon 5:9 NIV)
Who is your king, really? What's He really like?
My beloved is white and ruddy, Chief among ten thousand.
(Song of Solomon 5:10 NKJV)
Doesn't this sound like most of the world?
God is good - God is great! Thank you for this food- Amen!
He's mighty and powerful!
We love God- but He's not REALLY a priority!
We know what He's like... what we think He's like...
we describe Him to our friends...
His head is purest gold; his hair is wavy and black as a raven.
His eyes are like doves by the water streams, washed in milk, mounted like jewels.
His cheeks are like beds of spice yielding perfume. His lips are like lilies dripping with myrrh.
His arms are rods of gold set with topaz.
His body is like polished ivory decorated with lapis lazuli.
His legs are pillars of marble set on bases of pure gold.
His appearance is like Lebanon, choice as its cedars.
His mouth is sweetness itself; he is altogether lovely.
( Song of Solomon 5:11-15 NIV)
But...do we know God?
Do we just know about God...
Or do we KNOW God!
When He calls we can listen... or we can lie in bed and make excuses!
God is willing to be King and friend to us!
This is my beloved, this is my friend, daughters of Jerusalem.
(Song of Solomon 5:11-16 NIV)
We don't live like He's our friend -much less our BEST friend!
When God calls, when He knocks, we better listen up and get up, because Satan crouches outside our door just waiting for the opportunity to beat the living day lights out of us!
If you do what is right, will you not be accepted?
But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”
(Genesis 4:7 NIV)
