The Israelites were asking God for a king, and He obliges knowing that they are rejecting him by this request. How many times do we still ask God for things with impure intentions? The Israelites asked God for a king but they hadnt even learned to submit to Gods authority. We ask for wealth without first learning to be satisfied in Him. We ask for relationships without first cultivating intimacy with our Creator. Perhaps we should forget the stuff and situations and begin to beg for changed hearts, pure intentions, and wisdom.
