Songs for the Season: Raise a Hallelujah - Phil Kendon
Jonathan and Melissa Helser wrote this song while praying for a young boy, Jaxon, who seemed to be dying. Their song of praise in the face of great trial follows in the example of King Jehoshophat when he faced an enemy too strong for him. Singing songs of praise and worship helps us to lift our eyes off our circumstances and place them on God. He is the one who is able to change the situation and help us in our trials. When we are stressed out and anxious about the challenges we face, praise is sometimes the last thing we feel like doing. But, it is the very thing we need to change our perspective and lift our spirits.

1. Praise declares who God is

By praising God, we remind ourselves that he is the king and that he loves us with an everlasting love .
2. Praise focuses on what we believe and not on what we can see

We can hold onto what we believe in spite of how things look.
3. Praise drives out fear

When we look at God instead of the giant of our problems, fear loses its grip because no giant is bigger than God.
Remember:
I raise a hallelujah in the presence of my enemies.
