13
1A wise son responds to his father’s discipline,
but a mocker doesn’t listen to rebuke.
2From the words of his mouth,
a man will enjoy good things, # Pr 12:14

10Arrogance leads to nothing but strife, # Pr 17:19
but wisdom is gained by those who take advice.
11Wealth obtained by fraud will dwindle, # Pr 10:2; 20:21; 23:5
but whoever earns it through labor # Lit whoever gathers upon his hand will multiply it. # Pr 10:4; 21:5-6
12Delayed hope makes the heart sick,
but fulfilled desire is a tree of life. # Pr 11:30; 15:4
13The one who has contempt for instruction will pay the penalty, # Nm 15:31; 2Ch 36:16
but the one who respects a command will be rewarded. # Pr 3:1-2; 4:4; 6:23
14A wise man’s instruction is a fountain of life, # Pr 10:11; 14:27
turning people away from the snares of death. # Ps 18:5; 116:3
15Good sense wins favor, # Pr 3:4

16Every sensible person acts knowledgeably,

17A wicked messenger falls into trouble,
but a trustworthy courier brings healing. # Pr 25:13
18Poverty and disgrace come to those
who ignore discipline,
but the one who accepts correction will be honored. # Pr 5:12-14; 12:1; 15:31-33
19Desire fulfilled is sweet to the taste,
but to turn from evil # Pr 16:22; 29:27
is an abomination to fools.
20The one who walks with the wise will become wise,
but a companion of fools will suffer harm.
21Disaster pursues sinners,

23The uncultivated field of the poor yields abundant food,
but without justice, it is swept away.

25A righteous man eats until he is satisfied,
but the stomach of the wicked is empty. # Pr 10:3
