Pray for Us
1Finally, brothers, pray for us that the Lord’s message may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you, #1Th 2:13 2and that we may be delivered #Mt 27:43Rm 15:31 from wicked and evil men, for not all have faith. # Or for the faith is not in everyone 3But the Lord is faithful; He will strengthen and guard you from the evil one. #Mt 5:37|NoBook| 6:13|NoBook| 13:19Jn 17:15Eph 6:161Jn 2:13-14|NoBook| 3:125:18-19 4We have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do what we command. 5May the Lord direct your hearts to God’s love and Christ’s endurance. #Rm 15:5Rv 13:10
Warning against Irresponsible Behavior
6Now we command you, brothers, in the name #Jn 14:13Ac 3:16|NoBook| 15:14Php 2:10 of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from every brother #Mt 18:171Co 5:112Tm 3:52Jn 10 who walks irresponsibly and not according to the tradition #Mk 7:3 received #Jd 3 from us. 7For you yourselves know how you must imitate #3Jn 11 us: We were not irresponsible among you; 8we did not eat #1Co 10:25 anyone’s food # Or bread free of charge; #1Th 2:7 instead, we labored #Rv 14:13 and struggled, #2Co 11:271Th 2:9 working #Ac 18:3Eph 4:282Jn 8 night and day, so that we would not be a burden #2Co 2:51Th 2:9 to any of you. 9It is not that we don’t have the right #Mk 1:22Ac 9:14Rm 13:11Co 9:4-14 to support, but we did it to make ourselves an example to you so that you would imitate #Heb 8:5 us. 10In fact, when we were with you, this is what we commanded you: “If anyone isn’t willing to work, he should not eat.” #1Th 4:11 11For we hear that there are some among you who walk irresponsibly, not working at all, but interfering with the work of others. #1Tm 5:13 12Now we command and exhort such people by the Lord Jesus Christ that quietly working, they may eat their own food. # Or bread 13Brothers, do not grow weary #Lk 18:12Co 4:1Gl 6:9Eph 3:13 in doing good.
14And if anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take note of that person; don’t associate with him, so that he may be ashamed. 15Yet don’t treat him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother.
