Israel and Judah Are Unrepentant
1“Come, let us #ch. 14:1; [ch. 3:5] return to the Lord;
for #ch. 5:14; [ch. 13:7, 8] he has torn us, that he may heal us;
he has struck us down, and #[Isa. 30:26]he will bind us up.
2After two days #Ps. 71:20; [Luke 24:27, 44; John 2:22; 20:9; 1 Cor. 15:4]he will revive us;
on the third day he will raise us up,
that we may live before him.
3 # [ch. 4:6] Let us know; #[ch. 4:6] let us press on to know the Lord;

Your love is #ch. 13:3like a morning cloud,
# ch. 13:3 like the dew that goes early away.
5Therefore I have hewn them by the prophets;
I have slain them #Jer. 23:29; [Heb. 4:12]by the words of my mouth,
and my judgment goes forth as the light.
6For #Cited Matt. 9:13; 12:7; [1 Sam. 15:22] I desire steadfast love#6:6 Septuagint mercy and not sacrifice,
# [ch. 2:20] the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.
7But #[Gen. 3:11; Job 31:33; Rom. 5:14] like Adam they #ch. 8:1; Deut. 17:2 transgressed the covenant;
# ch. 5:7 there they dealt faithlessly with me.
8 # [ch. 12:11] Gilead is a city of evildoers,

9As robbers #[ch. 5:1; 7:6] lie in wait for a man,
so the priests band together;
they murder on the way to #Josh. 24:1Shechem;
they commit villainy.
10In the house of Israel I have seen a horrible thing;
# ch. 5:3; 7:4; [ch. 4:2, 12, 14; 9:10] Ephraim’s whoredom is there; #See ver. 4Israel is defiled.
11For you also, O #[See ver. 10 above] Judah, #See Joel 3:13 a harvest is appointed.
