The Safety of the Faithful
To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.
1Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness!
You have relieved me in my distress;
Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.
2How long, O you sons of men,
Will you turn my glory to shame?
How long will you love worthlessness
And seek falsehood?
3But know that #(2 Tim. 2:19)the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly;
The Lord will hear when I call to Him.
4#(Ps. 119:11Eph. 4:26)Be angry, and do not sin.
#Ps. 77:6Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still.
5Offer #Deut. 33:19Ps. 51:19the sacrifices of righteousness,
And #Ps. 37:35Ps 62:8put your trust in the Lord.
6There are many who say,
“Who will show us any good?”
#Num. 6:26Ps. 80:3719Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.
7You have put #Ps. 97:1112Is. 9:3Acts 14:17gladness in my heart,
More than in the season that their grain and wine increased.
8#Job 11:19Ps. 3:5I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;
