Ezekiel 35

35
Judgment on Mount Seir
1Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 2“Son of man, set your face against #Gen. 36:8; Deut. 2:5; Jer. 25:21; 49:7–22; Ezek. 25:12–14; Joel 3:19; Amos 1:11, 12; Obad. 1–9, 15, 16Mount Seir and #Amos 1:11prophesy against it, 3and say to it, ‘Thus says the Lord God:
“Behold, O Mount Seir, I am against you;
#Ezek. 6:14I will stretch out My hand against you,
And make you most desolate;
4I shall lay your cities waste,
And you shall be desolate.
Then you shall know that I am the Lord.
5#Ezek. 25:12“Because you have had an ancient hatred, and have shed the blood of the children of Israel by the power of the sword at the time of their calamity, #Ps. 137:7; Dan. 9:24; Amos 1:11; Obad. 10when their iniquity came to an end, 6therefore, as I live,” says the Lord God, “I will prepare you for #Is. 63:1–6; Ezek. 16:38; 32:6blood, and blood shall pursue you; #Ps. 109:17since you have not hated blood, therefore blood shall pursue you. 7Thus I will make Mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it the #Judg. 5:6one who leaves and the one who returns. 8And I will fill its mountains with the slain; on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines those who are slain by the sword shall fall. 9#Jer. 49:13; Ezek. 25:13I will make you perpetually desolate, and your cities shall be uninhabited; #Ezek. 36:11then you shall know that I am the Lord.
10“Because you have said, ‘These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will #Ps. 83:4–12; Ezek. 36:2, 5possess them,’ although #(Ps. 48:1–3; 132:13, 14); Is. 12:6; Ezek. 48:35; Zeph. 3:15the Lord was there, 11therefore, as I live,” says the Lord God, “I will do #(Matt. 7:2; James 2:13)according to your anger and according to the envy which you showed in your hatred against them; and I will make Myself known among them when I judge you. 12#Ps. 9:16Then you shall know that I am the Lord. I have #Zeph. 2:8heard all your #Is. 52:5blasphemies which you have spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, ‘They are desolate; they are given to us to consume.’ 13Thus #(1 Sam. 2:3)with your mouth you have boasted against Me and multiplied your #Ezek. 36:3words against Me; I have heard them.
14‘Thus says the Lord God: #Is. 65:13, 14“The whole earth will rejoice when I make you desolate. 15#Obad. 12, 15As you rejoiced because the inheritance of the house of Israel was desolate, #Jer. 50:11; Lam. 4:21so I will do to you; you shall be desolate, O Mount Seir, as well as all of Edom—all of it! Then they shall know that I am the Lord.” ’
