GRATITUDE: A 3-Day Devotional

ڕۆژی1 لە 3

Day 1: When Words Fall Short

There are moments when we feel overwhelmed — not by problems, but by the weight of God’s faithfulness. We look back and see how He carried us, protected us, sustained us. And yet when we try to thank Him, it feels like our words are too small for the magnitude of His mercy.

Other times, gratitude feels hard because life feels heavy. We want to thank Him, but our emotions are complicated. We’re tired. We’re in process. We’re still waiting.

Psalm 103:1 (NIV) says, “Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.” Praise begins internally. It doesn’t wait for perfect circumstances. It doesn’t wait for the perfect sentence. It starts with a decision — a turning of the heart.

Our praise may feel repetitive, but His goodness never is. Lamentations 3:22–23 (NIV) reminds us that because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, “for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning.” Every morning. Even the hard ones.

And when we don’t know what to say? Romans 8:26 (NIV) tells us the Spirit intercedes for us. That means gratitude doesn’t depend on eloquence. It depends on sincerity.

We may not have new words.
We may not have polished prayers.
But we have hearts that still turn toward Him.

And that is enough.
