What is the waiting room?

For some, it can be a painful space between what you are praying for and your current reality. It can also feel like delay, silence, or being left behind while others move ahead. However, the waiting room is not a geographical location; it’s a season, a posture, state of mind and not a place of complacency or a standstill.

If the waiting room is a season, then it has a purpose. The reason why you can say you're in the waiting room is because you know that God has something planned for you. You're waiting because there's an assurance of something for you, a glorious end and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).

The bait of Satan

John 10:10 shows us how the devil operates and truncates what God is doing in the life of His children. His mode of operation is to steal, kill and destroy. He does this by thwarting what God is doing in your life through the re-engineering of your thoughts. He wants you to treat waiting like punishment. He's skilled at making you think God doesn't love you, and that's why you're waiting. But God wants you to see 'waiting' as preparation and grooming for something bigger than your mind can fathom. The enemy also wants you to become anxious, nervous, doubtful and desperate, thereby falling into avoidable errors, but God wants you deeply anchored and fully secured in Him and His plans for you.

The enemy also traps you by keeping your eyes on what you don’t have. He amplifies the things that have not yet happened in your life, and this triggers offence, ingratitude and anger in you. When we are angry and offended at God, we miss out on what He is doing in our lives. God wants you to fix your gaze on HIM! Scripture says God keeps in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on Him (Isaiah 26:3). Peace is what happens when your heart stops running in circles and learns to rest in God’s faithfulness.

Waiting seasons often expose what’s really ruling us:

• Is it fear?
• Is it comparison?
• Is it pressure?
• Is it loneliness?
• Is it the need to prove a point?

Today, let this settle in you: God is doing a work in your life even when it feels like nothing is happening. Rest in His plans for you.

So instead of asking, “God, why am I here?” ask: “Lord, what are You forming in me in this season?”

The waiting room is not where you lose yourself. It’s where you find God, and in finding God, you find yourself.

Prayer

Father, steady my heart in this season. Teach me to wait with wisdom and peace, not anxiety. Deliver me from pressure, comparison, and fear. Let my mind be stayed on You and fill me with Your peace. Help me to trust Your process and Your timing. Open my eyes that I might see where the devil is waiting to hijack what You're doing in my life and help me not to fall into errors in Jesus’ name, amen.
