The Call to Live Uncompromised

God has called us from the beginning to Himself, His perfection reflected in the creation of His people. His desire for His people was spoken through Moses by commandment in Deuteronomy, calling Israel to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.” Though the commandment is clear, Jews, Christians–even Adam and Eve–have struggled from the beginning to understand the application of this verse in daily living.

The struggle is not with loving the Lord God, if you ask any Christian if they love the Lord God, the answer will almost always be a resounding “Yes!” Instead, the struggle is with the word “all.” All means everything; there is no compromise with the word “all.” It encompasses every part of us. (Deuteronomy 6:4-6)

Jesus is clear: we “must give up [our] own way, take up [our] cross, and follow [Him].” (Mark 8:34-35) There is a roadmap being laid out by God, leading us down the narrow path that leads to life. (Matthew 7:14) The road to life is a path that few find because it requires the decision to live an uncompromised life.

In Jesus, we have everything we could ever need–His promise is that we will lack nothing (Psalm 34:10). If we consistently choose to satisfy our own desires, not only are we denying the power of Jesus, who “came to destroy the works of the devil,” but we are refusing to give up all of our own desires for God. (1 John 3:4-10)

Over these three days, I am going to walk with you through the decision to become a doer of God’s Word and live an uncompromised life. Scripture tells us we must be doers of His word; otherwise, we are just fooling ourselves. (James 1:22)

Life has its ups and downs, and as Christians we are not immune to those downs… life can be hard. Living uncompromised is not easy. Paul forewarns in the book of Acts that “we must suffer many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God.” (Acts 14:22) However, living uncompromised is worth it.

We are going to see how God honors our “all,” when we give it to Him. We see it in many biblical accounts; two specific examples we will discuss in the coming days are when three servants of God are thrown into a furnace and when David kills the giant, Goliath. What we see in these accounts are individuals living uncompromised lives and experiencing victory through God. What we often don’t realize is how those accounts would have been different if they had chosen compromise instead of faith. We will discuss how their fears could have changed the outcome, and how those same fears will change our walk with God if we allow them.

Prayer:

God, I want to be radically changed for You. Holy Spirit, come and begin to reveal what is in my heart that is stopping me from giving You, God, my all. Today, I make the decision to live uncompromised for You, my God. Thank You for Your forgiveness through my Savior, Jesus Christ. I lay down my own way at Your feet and take up my cross, ready to follow You with all of me. In the name of my Savior, Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

Living Uncompromised

Living an uncompromised life begins with one decision: giving God our all. In this 3-day devotional, I’ll walk with you through what Scripture teaches about wholehearted obedience, courage, and a faith that refuses to bow to fear. Through the lives of Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, and David, we’ll see how God honors those who choose conviction over compromise. Each day invites you to lay down your own way, remember God’s faithfulness, and walk with firm, unwavering faith as you grow in obedience and trust in Jesus.
