Around the World in 7 Prayers: A 7-Day Family Journey Using Everyday Objects to Pray for Kids in Needنموونە

Day 1 – Africa: Good News on the Road
Today’s Verse:
“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news” (Romans 10:15).
God loves families in faraway places and sends people to bring them the Good News about Jesus.
Imagine living in a small village far away from any big town. There are no big stores, and the church building might be very simple or very far away. Some families don’t have a Bible at home, and it can be hard to hear from God’s Word.
In some parts of Africa, followers of Jesus are willing to travel long distances to tell others about him. They might walk or ride a bike over bumpy, dusty roads to visit villages. Sometimes, they bring Bibles so families can read about Jesus in their own homes. To God, those “tired feet” and those “dusty bikes” are beautiful because they are bringing his Good News.
Object Moment:
Grab your Bible and your bike item (helmet, toy bike, or picture).
Hold up the Bible and say: “This reminds us of the Good News of Jesus—his love, his forgiveness, and his promise to be with us.”
Then hold onto the bike item and say: “This reminds us that God’s Good News travels. He sends people out, sometimes on bikes, on foot, or in cars or buses, to reach families in places that are hard to get to.”
Ask your kids:
- “If you could ride your bike to bring Good News to someone, who would you visit?”
- “Why do you think God is happy when people go out of their way to tell others about Jesus?”
Every time we see a bike, we can remember that God is still sending people to share his love around the world.
Family Prayer
“Dear Jesus, thank you for loving families in Africa.
Thank you for the people who travel to share your Good News.
Please help villages that are far away hear about you.
Give them Bibles they can read and understand.
Keep your helpers safe on long roads and bike rides.
Help our family to remember to pray for them when we see a bike.
In Jesus' name, amen.”
Talk About It (Family Conversation):
“How does it change the way you think about the Bible when you realize some families walk or ride bikes a long way just to hear or read God’s Word?”
- “If Jesus asked our family to ‘go’ share his love with someone—not across the world, but right here—who comes to mind and what might we do?”
- “What are some ways we can ‘carry’ the Good News of Jesus to others, even if we never travel to another country?”
Try This Together:
Draw a picture of a bike and a Bible on a sticky note or scrap of paper. Put it on a bedroom door, the fridge, or near your family’s shoes. Every time you notice it this week, say a short prayer:
“Jesus, please help families in African villages hear your Good News.”
