Interlude: A 5-Day Devotional on Worship & Waiting by Matt Crockerنموونە

Day Three: hallelujah
Waiting can feel like a long night that doesn’t end. Jesus told His disciples they would grieve, that there would be sorrow before there was joy. It had to be tough to hear, but He didn’t hide that from them. He simply promised that their pain wouldn’t have the final word.
That’s what an interlude can be like sometimes—a gap between what you know is true and what you actually see. But in that space, worship becomes the language of trust.
Tongue tied my words they fail
A broken heart sings louder anyways
Off script, don't need no score
No complicated tune or turn of phrase
But I got a song
Just one word drenched in praise: Hallelujah
These lyrics are meant to be hope speaking into the dark. It’s a heart that chooses to praise God and to trust that morning will come, even when it’s still night.
Maybe that’s where you are right now (somewhere between grief and joy)... between promise and fulfillment. You might not feel the breakthrough yet, but you can still lift your eyes. You can still sing hallelujah right there in the middle of it.
The night doesn’t mean God is absent. It just means His story isn’t finished. Every hallelujah we sing before the outcome is a declaration that He’s still worthy, still working, still faithful.
Let your song come from that place today. Because one day, every interlude will make sense in the light of His love.
Prayer:
Jesus, when the night feels long, help me remember that You’re still near. Teach me to worship in the middle of what I don’t understand. Turn my grief into joy as I wait on You. Amen.

Between what was and what's next, between the promise and the fulfillment, there's often a space that feels uncertain and unsure. The Bible shows us that those in-between moments, those interludes, aren't wasted gaps. They can be a holy space where faith grows and worship happens. Interlude: A 5-Day Devotional on Worship & Waiting by Matt Crocker invites you to rediscover Jesus in the middle of waiting, change, or uncertainty about life. Through Scriptures from the Gospel of John and Acts, and songs from the interlude project, you'll learn what it means to trust, surrender, and worship.
