Here Comes the Sonنموونە

The Search for the King
The Gospel of Matthew tells us that after Jesus was born, wise men arrived in Jerusalem asking about the newborn king. They had seen a special star rise and believed it marked the birth of someone greater than any earthly ruler. Even though they were men of learning and influence, they recognised their need for something beyond themselves.
Their search led them on a long and costly journey. They travelled far, not knowing exactly where they were going, but trusting that God was guiding them. When the star stopped over the place where Jesus was, they were filled with joy. Entering the house, they saw the child with Mary and responded the only way a heart can when it encounters the presence of God: they bowed and worshipped.
They offered gifts that carried deep meaning. Gold symbolised royalty, frankincense represented worship, and myrrh pointed to sacrifice. These gifts revealed their understanding of who Jesus was, the King who would rule with righteousness, the Son who was worthy of worship and the Saviour who would give his life for the world.
The wise men’s journey invites us to look at our own hearts. What are we searching for? Are we still seeking the presence of Jesus above everything else? God promises that those who seek him will find him. He still guides his people today, not by stars, but by his Spirit, leading us step by step toward his purpose and peace.
Take time today to think about what you can bring to Jesus as an offering of love. It might be time spent in prayer, a habit you need to surrender, or an act of generosity toward someone in need. Offer it to him as your gift of worship, trusting that he receives it with joy.
