A Spiritual Harvest
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
Galatians 6:9, NLT
How can you reap a spiritual harvest? An unknown author offers some helpful suggestions in a poem called “Gardening God’s Way.”
Plant three rows of peas: Peas of mind, Peas of heart, Peas of soul. Plant four rows of squash: Squash gossip, Squash indifference, Squash grumbling, Squash selfishness. Plant four rows of lettuce: Lettuce be faithful, Lettuce be kind, Lettuce be obedient, Lettuce really love one another. Every garden needs turnips: Turnip for meetings, Turnip for service, Turnip to help one another. Water freely with patience and cultivate with love. There is abundance in your garden because you reap what you sow. Finally, in your garden, you must have thyme: Thyme for God, Thyme for study, Thyme for prayer.
Plant well today and reap a blessed harvest, bringing great glory to God.
Lord, help me plant well in Your garden of grace, and always remember I will reap a harvest of blessing if I don’t give up. Amen.
