The Magnificent Promises of God

Because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.

2 Peter 1:4, NLT

Why can you find confidence in God’s promises? Peter says God’s promises are great. They are powerful enough to handle any trial or temptation. He also says they are precious, and that makes you a spiritual multimillionaire. They draw you near to God’s heart, enabling you to commune with Him. And finally, Peter says that God’s promises provide a way for you to escape the world’s corruption. They move your gaze from the things of the world to the things of God. The promises change your perspective and help you focus your heart and mind on eternal, unchangeable truths. Thus, you are enabled to H-O-P-E, "Holding On with Patient Expectation”.

No wonder God filled His Word with promises. Each promise tethers your heart to God, keeping you firm and steady when you encounter trials.
