You Have a Redeemer

…in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Colossians 1:14, NASB

Redemption is one of the greatest gifts in God’s garden of grace. An Old Testament story paints a beautiful picture of your redemption. Ruth, daughter-in-law of Naomi, lost her husband and had no way to provide for herself or her mother-in-law. Boaz, Naomi’s relative, took Ruth as his wife, thus preserving the family line.

Behind redemption is the Old Testament law of the kinsman-redeemer. A kinsman-redeemer must be closely related, free of debt, and willing and able to pay the price of redemption. Take heart today, for you have a Redeemer. Jesus is the Son of Man and the Son of God. He was without sin and willingly paid the price for you through His death on the cross. Enjoy this powerful truth today—you have been redeemed. You have a Redeemer. His name is Jesus.
