The Holy Spirit: God Through Usنموونە

Can my life really make a difference? Do I really have what it takes to change the world? When the time comes, will I have the boldness to tell someone about Jesus? If you have ever asked yourself those questions, you are not alone. Jesus knew his followers, even his closest friends, would wonder the same thing. Before he returned to heaven, he gave them a mission: “You will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere” (Acts 1:8, NLT). And he gave them this promise: You don’t have to do it alone!

That promise came true on a day called Pentecost. In Acts 2, the Holy Spirit filled Jesus’ followers. Just moments before, they were ordinary people, hiding in an upper room. When the Spirit came, he gave them courage to step out and speak about Jesus to anyone who would listen. Thousands joined the family of God that day, and the Church was born!

That moment wasn’t just ancient history. It was the start of a new kind of community: a Spirit-filled family, sent out together to share God’s love. Ordinary people made an extraordinary impact because they were empowered, united, and led by the Holy Spirit.

Here’s why this matters for you: the same Holy Spirit who changed everything at Pentecost is alive and working today in you and in the Church. You don’t have to be a “superstar Christian” to make a difference. Just like he did for Jesus’ followers, the Holy Spirit gives you boldness to speak up, confidence to step out, and power to be a witness for Jesus. And he gives you a community who is on mission with you. If there are days that the job feels too big for you, that’s because it is! That’s when you rely on the Holy Spirit and lean into the family of God as you all fulfill the mission of God together!

Reflection and Prayer

Think about one way you could join God’s mission this week—like inviting a friend to youth group, praying for someone having a tough time, or showing kindness at school. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you boldness and remind you that you’re not alone. The Holy Spirit and his family are with you!

God, thank you for giving me a place in your family and a purpose in your mission. Fill me with your Holy Spirit so I can be brave and ready to love, help, and share your truth with others. Amen.
