“For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20 (ESV)

In today’s story, we encounter two people who had unshakeable faith in Jesus’ power. The lady who had been suffering from a bleeding disorder for many years could have given up all hope and not bothered Jesus, but she knew in her heart that he was the only one who could help her. Similarly, Jairus could have walked away from Jesus when he found out that his daughter had died, but he chose to trust Jesus’ words. Through faith in Jesus, the lady who had spent all her money on doctors had finally been healed by the greatest physician ever, and Jairus’ daughter had been raised from the dead! This goes back to day seven’s reading, because it reiterates the fact that Jesus was not just another historical figure who had a few golden nuggets of wisdom to share. No, He is God in the flesh. He is the only one who can return a person’s life back to them, and He is the only one who can cure an incurable disease.

Action Point:

Ephesians 2:8-9 (ESV) says: ‘For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.’ If having unwavering faith in the midst of hardships is something you’d like to have, ask God to help you strengthen your faith muscle through the mundaneness of everyday life.
