Mary Magdalene's Journey: 'Not Left Out!' (Part 3)نموونە

Faithful at the cross
The famous preacher S.M. Lockridge once said about the day that Jesus was crucified: ‘It’s Friday! The disciples are running around like sheep without a shepherd. Mary’s crying…’ And Mary Magdalene was and must have been crying. When all of Jesus’ closest friends had fled in fear, it was Mary Magdalene who stayed near the cross—near Jesus.
The crucifixion has not yet been depicted in 'The Chosen,' but in the series, we do already see inspiring glimpses of Mary Magdalene’s unwavering faith and loyalty to come. Despite the heartbreak of seeing Jesus suffer and the imminent danger of the oppressors' zeal to wipe out His followers, Mary Magdalene will remain. This act of courage speaks volumes about her love and gratitude.
Standing at the foot of the cross must have been devastating. Not only would you yourself be in danger of being arrested, but the image of the suffering and dying Jesus would haunt you for the rest of your life. Mary Magdalene’s presence, though, was a bold declaration that her devotion to Jesus wasn’t just for the good times. She was there when He was healing the sick, and she was there when He was suffering.
I suspect Mary Magdalene was so intent on staying with Jesus not only because she loved Him, but also because in that moment and place, she knew better than anyone else what it felt like to be so cast aside. Mary Magdalene's love for Jesus thus reflected His love for the marginalized.
So, where do you cling to during hard times? Mary Magdalene’s example encourages us to remain faithful, no matter what. Can you identify yourself with Mary Magdalene, and would you have the courage to cling to Jesus in the same way?

Jesus’ compassion for the marginalized shows us that true belonging isn’t earned—it’s given. Mary Magdalene’s story is a powerful example of this. Through both Scripture and stories from 'The Chosen,' explore how Mary Magdalene moved from brokenness to belonging, and how her story challenges us to see ourselves through the eyes of grace. You can read this plan separately, but it is also part of 'The Chosen's Test of Character' journey.
