Pales in Comparison

It's all about perspective.

Recently, my son yelled out to me from the other end of our house,"Mum, come here—there's a huge spider in the bathroom." I rushed to inspect, only to find a spider smaller than my little fingernail. (I still had my husband kill it, but it was small.)

I guess it's all about perspective, isn't it?

If you have never seen a truly big spider, then one that size looks big.

It can be a bit like that with God sometimes; if we've only ever known the love and care of another human before, then we can think that's as big as love and care can get.

But when you encounter God's love and care for you, everything else pales in comparison.

"See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are." (1 John 3:1, ESV)

Don't believe me? Why not look and find out?

It's certainly a more rewarding search to go on than hunting for a spider in your bathroom.

"But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness." (Psalm 86:15, ESV)
