Grace in the Dirt

When the angry crowd brought the woman to Jesus, He didn’t respond right away. He didn’t shout. He didn’t argue. He didn’t even look at them. Instead, He stooped down and began writing in the dirt.

What was He writing? We don’t know for sure. But what we do know is this: Jesus got low. While others stood over her in judgment, Jesus knelt in the dust beside her. He wasn’t afraid to get close to her shame, her story, or her sin.

That’s grace.

Maybe you feel like you’ve fallen too far, made too many mistakes, or are too dirty for God to draw near. But friend, Jesus is not intimidated by your mess. He doesn't back away—He leans in. He meets you in the lowest places and reminds you that you're still worthy of love. Of redemption. Of a new story.

The very ground where she was shamed became the ground where she was saved. The dirt didn’t disqualify her, it became the place where grace was written.

Sister, you may be in a low place right now. But it might just be the very spot where Jesus meets you face to face.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for meeting me in the dirt. When I feel unworthy or too broken, You kneel beside me. You don’t turn away. You stay. Help me to believe that Your grace reaches me no matter where I am. Lift my eyes to see You, even here. Even now. Amen.

Reflection Question:
What “dirt” have you believed disqualifies you from being close to Jesus? How can you invite Him into that space today?
