DEPRESSION IS a LIE - a Podcast Series With Dustin Tavellaنموونە

Let’s Get Real:
How wild is this truth?
Seriously—mind blown.
God LOVES you!
Not the kind of love that’s conditional.
Not the kind that backs off when you mess up.
The kind that never quits.
The kind that nothing — and I mean nothing — can separate you from.
That truth alone destroys one of the biggest lies attached to depression:
“I am not loved.”
Big Truth: You Are Loved
Let’s be real: depression tells you things that feel true but aren’t!
It whispers things like:
“You’re not enough.”
“No one really cares.”
“You’re unlovable.”
But here’s the thing—when your feelings and God’s truth don’t agree, one of them is lying.
And spoiler alert: It’s not God.
Romans 8:35-39 says nothing can separate you from His love.
Not your past.
Not your mistakes.
Not depression.
Not even death.
So when your mind says, “You’re not loved,” you don’t have to accept that.
You get to fight back.
Talk Back to the Lies
I know this might sound a little strange, but hear me out:
Start having conversations with yourself.
Yep, you read that right. Tell your brain it's wrong!
When your brain starts throwing lies at you like, “Nobody loves you,” you treat that thought like someone standing in front of you lying to your face.
Would you just stand there and agree?
No way! You’d call it out. You’d prove them wrong. You’d bring receipts.
That’s what you do with your thoughts, too!
Start speaking God’s truth out loud—even if you don’t feel it yet.
I do this all the time: I read Scripture out loud so that my brain and ears hear it straight from my own mouth.
It’s not just “positive thinking.”
It’s choosing to plant yourself in what’s real—even when the feelings don’t follow right away.
So, What Now?
Here’s your challenge:
- Get loud. Don’t let the lies scream louder than truth.
- Find your people. Surround yourself with voices that reflect God’s love back to you.
- Stay in the fight. Even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard.
Chemical imbalance or not, if depression is firing off signals saying you have no worth, FIGHT BACK! Get loud! It's time we stop letting the lies be the loudest part of our life.
You don’t have to do this alone.
You don’t have to believe every thought that passes through your mind.
You get to take your thoughts captive and remind yourself:
“I am deeply, fully, unshakably loved!”
Prayer You Can Pray:
God, I don’t always feel loved. Sometimes my thoughts try to convince me I’m alone or forgotten. But I’m choosing to believe what You say is true. Remind me that Your love doesn’t depend on my feelings—it’s constant. Help me to speak truth over my life, even when it’s hard. Surround me with people who remind me of who I really am: Yours. Amen.
Bottom Line:
Your feelings may lie—but God’s love never does.
Speak truth. Fight back. You are loved. Always.
