A Biblical Mountain Walk

ڕۆژی3 لە 3

Of course, the Bible speaks about a lot of mountains. Though, on our short walk through the mountains, we will only visit three. These are the three most important ones.

We went to Mount Sinai and saw how holy God is. We also discovered, through the Law, that we are all sinful human beings.

At Mount Golgotha we saw how seriously God treats sin. Sin requires the death penalty. On Golgotha, Someone else, received that death penalty in your place. He didn't deserve it, but He did it for you because He loves you that much.

There is yet another mountain where Jesus went. The Mount of Olives, which is near Jerusalem. Jesus was there just before He was captured. It was here at the Mount of Olives, after He rose from the dead, that Jesus ascended to heaven.

Today, read Acts 1 verse 1 to 11

Notice especially what the angels said in verse 11: ‘Galileans, why are you standing there looking into the sky? This Jesus, who was taken up into heaven from among you, will return in the same way as you saw Him go to heaven.’

So, Jesus is coming back. Where will He come back? On that same Mount of Olives. That was foretold before He was even born. Just read in Zechariah 14, verse 4: ‘On that day He will set His feet on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem. The Mount of Olives will split in two, from East to West, creating a very large valley; one half of the mountain will give way to the north, the other half to the south.’

For many people it will be a dreadful day when Jesus returns. Why? Because they have never been to Golgotha! They have never admitted their guilt, believed what Jesus did, and accepted God's amazing forgiveness. The forgiveness that is only possible because Jesus paid the full price God’s justice demanded.

For others the day Jesus returns, will be a glorious day! I hope if will be glorious for you too. Thankfully those who believe that Jesus paid the full price for them, can never be condemned!

Will that day be a dreadful day for you? Or a day full of joy that you are looking forward to?

It was nice to take this short mountain walk with you. If this was all new to you, I can imagine you might have a lot of questions. I would love to help you find the answers. You can email me at: alexvannes@gmail.com
