ئەوە بوو پاش مردنی شاول و گەڕانەوەی داود لە لێدانی عەمالێقییەکان، داود دوو ڕۆژ لە چیقلەگ مایەوە. لە ڕۆژی سێیەمدا بینی گەنجێک لە ئۆردوگاکەی شاولەوە بە جلی دڕاو و سەری تۆزاوییەوە هات، کاتێک گەیشتە لای داود کەوتە سەر زەوی و کڕنۆشی برد. داود لێی پرسی: «لەکوێوە هاتوویت؟» ئەویش وەڵامی دایەوە: «لە ئۆردوگای ئیسرائیلەوە دەرباز بووم.» داودیش پێی گوت: «ڕووداوەکە چۆن بوو؟ تکایە پێم ڕابگەیەنە.» ئەویش گوتی: «جەنگاوەران لە جەنگەکەدا هەڵاتن، زۆربەی جەنگاوەران کەوتن و مردن، شاول و یۆناتانی کوڕیشی مردن.» داودیش بەو گەنجەی گوت کە هەواڵەکەی پێی ڕاگەیاندبوو: «چۆن زانیت شاول و یۆناتانی کوڕی مردوون؟» گەنجەکەش پێی گوت: «وا ڕێککەوت من لە کێوی گلبۆع بووم، بینیم شاول بەسەر ڕمەکەیدا دەچەمایەوە، گالیسکە و سوارەکانیش بە توندی بەدوایەوە بوون. ئاوڕی لەدوای خۆی دایەوە و منی بینی، بانگی کردم، منیش گوتم: ”ئەوەتام.“ «لێی پرسیم: ”تۆ کێیت؟“ «منیش وەڵامم دایەوە: ”من عەمالێقیم.“ «ئینجا پێی گوتم: ”تکایە، وەرە سەرم و بمکوژە! لە سەرەمەرگدام، بەڵام هێشتا ژیانم تێدا ماوە.“ «منیش چوومە سەری و کوشتم، چونکە زانیم پاش کەوتنەکەی ناژیێت، ئیتر تاجەکەی سەر سەری و بازنەکەی کە بە قۆڵییەوە بوو بردم و ئەوانەم بۆ لای گەورەم هێناوە.» داود جلەکانی لەبەرخۆی دادڕی، بە هەمان شێوە هەموو ئەو پیاوانەی کە لەگەڵی بوون. لاوانەوە و گریان، هەتا ئێوارە بەڕۆژوو بوون، بۆ شاول و یۆناتانی کوڕی و هەموو سوپای یەزدان و بنەماڵەی ئیسرائیل، چونکە بە شمشێر کەوتن.
