Beneït sigui el Déu i Pare de nostre Senyor Jesucrist, Pare entranyable i Déu de tot consol. Ell ens conforta en totes les nostres adversitats, perquè nosaltres mateixos, gràcies al consol que rebem de Déu, sapiguem confortar els qui passen alguna pena. És cert que compartim abundosament els sofriments de Crist, però també, gràcies a ell, el consol que rebem és abundós. Si passem tribulacions és perquè sigueu consolats i salvats; i si som consolats és perquè pugueu rebre aquell consol que us fa suportar amb paciència els mateixos sofriments que patim nosaltres. I l’esperança que tenim respecte a vosaltres és segura: sabem que, compartint els nostres sofriments, compartiu també el nostre consol.
