Reflection
No matter where we might need to talk about our faith, even in antagonistic circumstances, Jesus is reminding us that we can depend on the Holy Spirit to guide us and show us what to say to defend the faith. It is through the power of the Spirit that we share the gospel. Just as Paul didn’t need “lofty speech or wisdom,” Jesus told His followers that they don’t have to worry about making sure they say the perfect thing. Because sharing the gospel is a spiritual thing, and changing hearts is a spiritual thing, we have the help of the Holy Spirit acting within us.
Remember this
Don’t worry whether or not you’re saying the perfect thing. The Holy Spirit will give you the words to say as you witness to others about Jesus.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to trust your Holy Spirit to speak through me. Amen.
