HIS WORD BRINGS JOY

At a retreat I attended, I heard a passage of scripture read aloud. In a very penetrating way, those words pierced my heart and brought about a consolation and filling that I needed badly at that time. A joy came over me like none other.

It was as though God’s Words of glory had literally just fallen onto me. In fact, those exact words resonated in my mind –words of glory came to me. It was as though I had experienced a vision or miraculous light of some kind. God's Word is truly sharper than any two-edged sword.

Can you remember a time when a certain scripture was spoken, read, or sung that resonated deeply in your soul? Did it strike a nerve within you? I am convinced that nerve is something much more than just a special feeling. In those moments I believe you and I are truly experiencing the living God and the accompanying joy of His Word in us.

I pray this poem draws you to His word and that you sense an inner joy that cannot be contained!

WORDS OF GLORY

Words of glory came to me

Showered forth like glistening sea

And cast a light upon my soul

Old shadows fade, now life behold.

Word so strong, word so wise

Word it came to Jesus’ bride;

Warmth it dawned like summer's day

And healed my heart, no words to say

Living words they carry me

And fill my heart, how can this be?

They pierce my heart and soul alike

As sparks from hammer’s forceful strike

I know deep down a seed got tucked

Beneath the layers of soul’s dark muck

The light it pierced my darkened flesh

And made its mark just now so fresh

Now I am no more the same

That part of me no longer lame

With part of me now touched by Thee

Oh Word of truth fall fresh on me!
