Promises (S4-E1)

DAY 4 OF 4

The real work

Judas just can’t wait to get on with the “real” work. He wants to see Jesus’ ministry grow. And in his mind, the only way to do that is by acquiring money and power.

But Zee keeps questioning Judas’ assumptions – and ours.

What if Jesus’ priority isn’t to use you as a tool for His mission? What if he is more concerned about the transformation of your heart? What if the “real work” is the work He is doing in you?

Judas’ desire to be productive is relatable, but it’s ultimately rooted in pride. Let’s reflect on what the Lord is actually calling his followers to prioritize:

The Greatest Commandment has two directions.

  1. Focus on the Lord and love Him. Build your relationship with Him. Seek Him with all that you are. When you stay close to Him, you will notice transformation happening within you.
  2. Love the people around you with the love that overflows from your relationship with God. When you’ve experienced Jesus’ goodness, you’ll want to share it with others in tangible ways.

It’s not about obligation or productivity. It’s about love, which comes from God. By staying close to Him, you become a person of love. With that love, you can love and serve others. And in that way, you begin to look like Jesus.

Just imagine what could happen then.

Reflection Questions

  • Where do you see the Lord working in your heart and life to make you more like Jesus?
  • Where do you want to grow? Ask Jesus about it.
  • How often do you spend time with Jesus? What does that look like for you?
  • Is Jesus’ love in you visible to the people around you?

Prayer

"Jesus, I want to become more and more like You. Transform me, Lord - do Your work in me. And may it be that through me, Your love reaches others. May they see You in me, Lord. That is my desire. Amen."
