DAY 60 OF 91

HABAKKUK 1 - DOES HE HEAR ME? Billions of people woke up today around the world–many rejoicing, but others in deep and desperate mourning. A loved one passed away, an undesired diagnosis came in, a relationship went to shambles...and at one point, or maybe now, that’s you. Another day has come and gone, and your prayer to God for help, for healing, for answers– has gone without a word. Maybe God can’t hear me. Maybe He isn’t listening at all. Or maybe there’s a more bitter response in your heart. God always says “no.” Habakkuk opens with a similar feeling. “How long, O Lord, will I call for help, and You will not hear?” I understand. I’ve been there. But the simple truth of God’s goodness, revealed in Scripture time and time again, is that He does hear. He listens and He answers, just like He answers Habakkuk in his complaints and confusion. When we think that He isn’t listening or that He’s saying no yet again, He’s blessing us with thousands of mercies that we couldn’t even think to ask for, but we often dwell on the one that goes unanswered or rejected. We never think to thank God for another heartbeat or another breath, but are they not great mercies? God is intimately aware of you. He knows you by name, by the deepest desires of your heart. His Word says that He knows your prayers before you even speak them. He is everywhere at once and He is active, making miracles happen that we don’t even think about. Father God, please tune my heart to you so I can continually escape my nagging unbelief. Family Connection: Discuss as a family, how can we ask God questions? How do we get answers? Make a list of questions you want to ask God. Share how we can talk to God at anytime through prayer and He will answer all of our questions through His Word. Take a moment to pray as a family.
